About HRS
Healthcare Reimbursement Services, Inc. (HRS), a newly formed healthcare company specializing in the provision of medical reimbursement services to hospitals across the nation, acquired the Disproportionate Share (DSH) and Crossover Bad Debt (Medi-Medi) business units of Mirrus Systems, Inc. in February 2010. The acquisition of those business units provided HRS with a team that has been providing Reimbursement Services such as Cost Report preparation (filing) of the Medicare DSH documentation package and Crossover Bad Debts list since 1998. Additionally, we file reopenings and appeals.
The staff at HRS has led the way
to ensure Medicare Administrative Contractors
(MAC) and Fiscal Intermediaries (FI) properly apply Medicare
regulations. These efforts have included group appeals involving the Medicare Mandamus Global Settlement (In re: Medicare
Litigation) for DSH, Supplemental Security Income (SSI) challenges, and eligible day inclusion for
the Medicare DSH calculation. Our experience involves partnerships
and associations with hospital associations, healthcare legal firms,
and vendors.
Due to the significant
reimbursement impact of the DSH calculation and the increasing
scrutiny of the Medicaid eligible and paid day count, HRS has a
dedicated business unit exclusively designed to help hospitals
properly count, verify, and support Medicaid eligible days for their
DSH reimbursement. The business unit has successfully
processed over $450 million in DSH reimbursements for over 250 hospitals in 28 states to date.
